TOPIC II - PRAGUE

Czech Republic

Czech Republic is the crossroad of european cultures. It has got a lot of inspiration for visitors and guests from all over the world. From two thousand four, Czech Republic has been member of the Europe union. It has been a NATO member since 2002.It’s currency is the Czech crown. But in Czech Republic there are beautiful places too, there are forests, nice lakes and Historic spots. There are really beautiful cities like: Czech krumlov, Tábor, and of course Prague, our capital city, in which the orloj is placed. The orloj is the best known czech historical machine.
We know that many people from other countries don‘t know about the Czech Republic (like some people from America. (don’t try to hide, matrix is everywhere! :))) But we respect it... We Don’t know about all the states of the world too... :)exept one freak from our class who’s a crazy geographist..... The Czech republic has got everything execpt the sea.... South Czech Republic has got nice nature.... there are many lakes and forests... (but many mosquitos too.... :(). But the most beautiful thing in our country are our historical spots....
The Czech republic has about 10 000 000 people. Prague, our capital has got about 1 000 000 people. Budvar is the best beer in the world!!!!!!! I think that Czech republic is the best country of the world......

TOPIC II - PRAGUE

Czech Republic

Our country is in the middle of Europe. We call it the heart of Europe. There live 10 000 000 people. The capital city is Prague.

It is quite small, but there are a lot of sights and beautiful nature.
Czech Republic divides into three parts. They are Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia.

We live in Prague. There are a lot of interesting places e.g. Old Town Square, Prague Castle, Astronomical clock, Charles Bridge and National theatre.

The most famous monument is Astronomical clock. It was made by clockmakers Mikuláš of Kadaň and Jan Šindel, in 14th -15th centuries.

Charles Bridge overarches the river Vltava. There are a lot of statues, which have got a huge historical value. There are artists and stalls with souvenirs on Charles Bridge. A lot of tourists visit Charles Bridge every day.

Prague is great so don’t hesitate to visit this lovely place.

Sport in our capital city

Our capital city is Prague. There are a lot of sports at choice. We can play volleyball, hockey, football, tennis, squash… But we can’t ski and snowboard, because we haven’t got mountains in Prague. In winter we often go ice skating and we go sledge.

There are a lot of sports hall and stadiums such as Sazka arena and T-mobile arena. Our nation loves watching football and hockey matches. We are good at these sports. We go to fit centres, because we want attractive bodies. We go dancing, too.

We love sport very much, because we are full of energy.

Capitan David Výborný is happy, because he wins to Canada on the world cup.

BAD WEATHER AND FLOODS IN PORTUGAL

It has been raining a lot in Portugal for the past few days.
Last weekend there were floods in several palces. This picture was taken in Peso da Régua (near Armamar). This situation is very usual here in the winter.
Peso da Régua is known because of the Port Wine (it is its birth place).
If you want to read more about Port wine follow this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_wine

TEDDY BEAR

Our project includes a "Teddy Bear" activity.
The idea is taking pictures, with a "Teddy Bear" (in this case a Moomin - chosen by Finland), in all the participant countries and share them here.
The Moomin will travel, from time to time. It will follow this order: Finland, Portugal, Germany,Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
The Moomin is a lucky animal!!!
Take a look at the pictures.

MOOMINMAMMA'S ADVENTURES IN FINLAND

This is Moominmamma. She is the mother of the Moomin family. She was created by Tove Jansson (1914-2001), a Finnish novelist, painter, illustrator and comic strip author.
Moominmamma spent some lovely time with us here in Finland. In this picture she is enjoying the first snow in Nousiainen. Unfortunately, the snow melted after a few days, and we haven't seen snow since. This autumn has been exceptionally warm here in Finland.

Moominmamma travelled to Lapland with two of our students, Teemu and Juha. Here she's admiring the fine blue colour of the northern sky.

Getting some good exercise. Moominmamma is climbing up Levi Fell.

Relaxing and sunbathing on top of Pallas Fell.

Back in the south and in Nousiainen, Moominmamma decided to go to the library - to read Moomin books, of course.

Standing in front of St. Henry Church in Nousiainen.

Moominmamma obviously likes churches. In this picture she is visiting Turku Cathedral. Moominmamma is the tiny white spot at the bottom of the photo. If you are lucky, you can find her...

Of course Moominmamma visited our school, too. Here she is sitting in the flowerpot and checking the school from the outside.

Moominmamma alone in the school hall. The lessons must be on because there's nobody around.

In the computer lab. This is where our international group meets every Wednesday morning. That's Moominmamma and Laura in the foreground.

Moominmamma was very eager to help the students with the being e-friends project.

Moominmamma and Teemu in the foreground, the being e-friends presentations in the background (on the wall).

At the moment Moominmamma is travelling to Portugal. We wish her a safe journey and hope that she will have lots of fun on her European tour!
